World Congress in Nagasaki August 22, 2025
From October 2nd to 4th, PSR leaders will join colleagues from around the globe in Nagasaki for the 24th World Congress of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW). This gathering, taking place in one of the two cities devastated by nuclear attack, will bring together health professionals, advocates, and survivors to advance strategies for eliminating nuclear weapons and promoting peace.
If you’re a member of PSR, registration is still open to join the in-person meetings in Nagasaki. Additional tours will take place following the congress to Fukushima and Hiroshima. If you are interested in attending the congress and would like to find out more, visit the website or contact Magritte Gordaneer at mgordaneer@psr.org.
PSR will be represented in Nagasaki. Dr. Joe Hodgkin will serve as International Councilor and voting member of IPPNW’s governing body, with Ann Suellentrop and Dr. Ankush Bansal serving as Deputy International Councilors. Dr. Bob Gould, IPPNW’s Co-Vice President for North America, will facilitate collaboration with IPPNW Canada and other regional partners, while Dr. Ira Helfand has been nominated as an At-Large member of the IPPNW Board.
