Victory on Methane Standards! July 1, 2021

We won the reinstatement of methane regulations! Congress acted and President Biden signed a bipartisan resolution this week, putting back in place the requirements removed by the Trump administration for reducing methane and other pollution from oil and gas operations.
Thank you to all our members and e-activists who raised their voices. You helped secure an important win for climate and for health. This action restores Obama-era standards for the industry, once again requiring oil and gas companies to inspect new or reconstructed infrastructure every six months to detect, and then repair, leaks.
It’s a valuable next step. Let’s keep at it until we have banned fracking and made gas a fuel of the past.
