Upcoming Events: TPNW Third Meeting of States Parties February 21, 2025

From March 3-7, campaigners from around the world will be gathering in New York City to join the Third Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). Over 160 civil society organizations, including PSR, have been accredited to attend this meeting and plan on contributing to a variety of events during the week in New York City.
During the week, events will be held either at UN Headquarters or other locations throughout the city, providing various spaces to engage in the dialogue of the week. The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons has created a calendar detailing many of the events taking place during the first week of March in New York both inside and outside the UN. Events include “The Role of Cities in the Promotion of Nuclear Disarmament” on Tuesday co-hosted by Back From the Brink, PSR, and other organizations, or the following reception hosted at the Church Center across the street. A Medical Student Forum hosted by IPPNW will be held on Monday evening for medical students and junior doctors. On Tuesday evening, the Nuclear Free Futures Awards will be held at the Cooper Union featuring performances by Laurie Anderson, Peter Gordon, and Max Gordon. Additionally on Tuesday evening, “If Not Now, When? An International Forum for Preventing Nuclear War & Secure Our Future” will be held and live streamed from Scandinavia House at 7pm ET. On Wednesday, IPPNW is hosting “The Role of Evidence-Based Policy-Making in Advancing a Nuclear Weapons Free World” in UNHQ Conference room A at lunch and Warheads to Windmills is hosting an event on “Strategies for Promoting the TPNW in US Congress.”
Many events will feature the voices of hibakusha, activists, high-ranking officials and more. If you’re planning to attend, or in New York for the week, be sure to take advantage of this time in person to attend various events, hear from experts, and connect with campaigners from around the world. If you can’t make it in person, engage on social media, or tune into MSPTV. Other events may be recorded or live streamed as noted on events listed on the ICAN Calendar.
