Senate Republicans made history today and it is likely that we’ll look back on this action in the future as one of the most significant government failures to date. Through their passage of HR 1 the Senate has set up the House and President to enact legislation that will take generations to course correct. This bill will revoke healthcare access from over 17 million Americans on Medicaid, steal SNAP benefits from over 3 million people, including a million children, and roll back historic clean energy investments that were in the process of creating jobs, lowering energy costs, and improving our health.

All of this while there are still plenty of funds for needless militarization, including $100 billion to ICE over the next four years. If passed, we will bear witness to the largest transfer of wealth from the working class to the ultrarich in United States history.

We still have time to stop this — but time is very short. The House is expected to convene tomorrow morning to vote on the Senate version of the bill. PSR is working with our partners to turn up the heat on Congress. We are asking PSR members to join us in calling our Representatives and telling them to VOTE NO on this health-harming, budget busting abomination.

It is time for the House to listen to their constituents, the majority of which are not supportive of this bill, and vote no. We must reject all attempts by this administration and Congress to target our most vulnerable communities and we should expect our Representatives to do the same.
