The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Hosts Review Conference Next Month March 30, 2026

Next month, governments from around the world will gather in New York for the 2026 Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). This month-long conference will take place at the United Nations Headquarters from April 27 to May 22, 2026. PSR will join International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) in hosting a delegation during the first week of the conference. These convenings offer an important opportunity for health professionals to bring an evidence-based, humanitarian perspective directly into international policy discussions.
With nuclear risks rising, fueled by ongoing armed conflicts involving nuclear-armed states, the expiration of key arms control agreements like New START, and the continued expansion and modernization of nuclear arsenals, there is an immediate need for concrete action. Core priorities for our delegation will include centering the catastrophic humanitarian and health impacts of nuclear weapons in all deliberations and advancing timebound commitments to disarmament under Article VI of the NPT. We will also call for a clear separation between nuclear weapons systems and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, and for greater engagement with the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons as a complementary pathway toward abolition.
For PSR members, the Review Conference is a key moment to engage, connect, and advocate. Our delegation and partner events will create space for clinicians, researchers, and advocates to collaborate, share expertise, and elevate the health case for nuclear disarmament. If you are interested in attending or learning more about how to participate, please reach out to Magritte Gordaneer at mgordaneer@psr.org as soon as possible.
