Dr. Edward “Ned” Ketyer of Washington County, is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, president of Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania and a medical advisor for the Environmental Health Project, which “defends public health in the face of oil and gas development,” according to its website.

Ketyer said chemicals from fracking “wreak havoc on the immune system and the way infants and children grow.”

“Heavy metal is really nasty for little kids and infants and their brain development,” he said. “Rashes are also a big part of the symptoms we see in pregnant women, and infants are at special risk. Multiple studies link fracking to cancer in kids.”
