PSR Welcomes New Environment & Health Director, Paige Knappenberger June 21, 2024

PSR is pleased to welcome our new Environment & Health Program Director, Paige Knappenberger. As Director of the program, Paige will guide PSR’s national work on climate, energy and air quality. She is taking over from longtime E&H Director Barbara Gottlieb, who will retire this month.

Paige leads the Environment and Health team to collaboratively conceive and develop new program ideas, research and write reports and white papers and engage PSR chapters and members in advocacy. She is committed to advancing environmental justice and health equity through her work and work with partners at PSR. Prior to joining PSR’s Environment and Health team, she served as the Director of Projects and Partnerships at Climate Nexus, a non-profit climate change and clean energy communications organization. During her ten years at Climate Nexus, Paige provided partners with strategic communications and media support, built out the organization’s climate and health vertical and served as an author on six Lancet Countdown U.S. Policy Briefs. In addition to her role as an author on the Lancet Countdown U.S. Policy Briefs, Paige also led media strategy and outreach for the project and produced the annual launch events. She also led efforts to elevate health messaging ahead of and during COP 28 in Dubai, coordinating events, reports, and spokespeople.

Paige lives in Washington, D.C. with her partner and two young sons. Outside of work, Paige enjoys playing with her family at the beach, snorkeling and scuba diving, going to concerts and paper crafting.
