In yet another attack on clean air and health, EPA is seeking to upend the Good Neighbor Provision of the Clean Air Act. This action would allow polluters to increase ozone emissions that harm people that live nearby polluting facilities as well as people living downwind across state lines. Wind and air currents don’t care about statelines, and neither does air pollution.
There is an abundance of research proving that ozone causes a myriad of negative health impacts that lead to an increased likelihood of hospitalizations and even premature death. It is EPA’s Congressionally-mandated mission to protect the American people from such harms.
At a time when the benefits of a healthy and functioning society are being discounted by agencies across the board, health professionals must speak out and demand necessary protections. Submit your unique comment today and tell EPA to revoke this irresponsible proposal! Comments are due on Monday, March 23.
