Marietta Ceiling Plant upgrade could increase emissions of pollutants near Marietta, Maytown September 26, 2025

LNP
With its existing poor air quality, Lancaster County should not be increasing emissions, and instead should be aiming to decrease them, said Chris DiGiulio, environmental science director at Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania. To DiGiulio, the most problematic pollutants being released at the facility are nitrogen oxides, the fine particulate matter known as PM2.5, volatile organic compounds and ammonia.
Effects from these pollutants may include development of asthma in children, increased inflammation of the airways, cancer risk, increased risk of early death and impaired lung function.
