Madison marks Hiroshima anniversary with lanterns and call for peace August 6, 2025

The annual Lanterns for Peace event, organized by Physicians for Social Responsibility Wisconsin, blends personal remembrance with a broader call for nuclear disarmament.
“We’ve been doing this event for probably 25-30 years, maybe longer,“ Amy Schulz, president of PSR Wisconsin and registered nurse said. ”And we usually begin with everyone designing their own lantern… it gives people a chance to kind of express their desires for peace.”
