LA’s quest to outlaw urban oil drilling inches forward May 22, 2025

Emma Silber, a climate justice associate with Physicians for Social Responsibility LA, an organization elevating the voices of healthcare professionals advocating for climate solutions and part of the Stand-LA coalition, said she often comes across residents not knowing they even live near oil fields.
“[The oil field] starts to kind of blend into the background of people’s environment and once we start to talk more about the health impacts people get really concerned,” said Silber.
