Give us strong action on climate change! March 25, 2019

It’s time for the U.S. Senate to embrace strong action on climate change.

The Senate is expected to vote Tuesday on the Green New Deal, a resolution highlighting the need for 100% clean renewable energy, fair-wage “green” jobs, and other related measures.

This vote has become unnecessarily polarized. This is a non-binding resolution, not detailed legislation, and does not prescribe specific ways to attain the goals it lays out. It’s an imperfect document and has been criticized.

That misses the point. What the Green New Deal represents is the recognition that we urgently need a transition to healthy, clean renewable energy and energy efficiency as quickly as possible, while ensuring that the transition provides greater economic opportunity for all Americans.

Tell your senators: Give us strong action on climate change, before the effects of climate change become irreversible.
