“Extreme Weather People’s Hearing” held in Asheville, NC June 24, 2025

On June 18, PSR National and PSR’s Western North Carolina Chapter co-sponsored an “Extreme Weather People’s Hearing” in Asheville, together with local and national partners. PSR Executive Director Brian Campbell and several local health professionals testified about their experience living through Hurricane Helene, the health impacts and ongoing recovery in the region, and the need for strong federal policies to protect against devastating disasters fueled by climate change. Watch the short video below for a glimpse at this powerful event, and stay tuned for updates on similar events we’re hosting later this summer with extreme weather survivors in Phoenix, Arizona and Pasadena, California.
