This 19th annual remembrance service will feature a keynote speech from the renowned Dr. Sharat G. Lin. The event will begin with lantern making and a performance from Monterey’s Taiko drumming group, Shinsho-Mugen Daiko. This will be followed by music, poetry, and community messages of peace. From 8:15pm peace lanterns will be launched as Thai Chi Master Jim Scott-Behrends will play the shakuhachi flute.
