2024 will be a defining moment in the security and integrity of our planet. The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) and the Second Meeting of the States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) both ended last month with ambitious goals to protect our common future.

YPFP Tokyo and IPPNW will host a global webinar following these two global discussions and offer pathways to bring these dual issues together. In a world consumed by polycrisis, global risks, and heightened geopolitical tensions, exploring the interrelatedness of nuclear risk and climate risk is necessary now more than ever.

Our global webinar intends to highlight the nexus between the climate crisis and nuclear weapons and present the global impact of nuclear war. Furthermore, we will explore how climate activism and nuclear disarmament cooperation is essential to create a safer and just future.

For this global webinar, we invite youth of all ages to learn about the interrelated risks in the Climate-Nuclear Nexus and the global impact of nuclear weapons. We aim to chart pathways for youth to advocate for a more peaceful future that binds nuclear and climate risk as interrelated threats to existing and future generations.

We welcome youth across the globe active in the Climate, Peace, Justice, and/or Disarmament space to RSVP to attend this important and timely event. Please note, this global webinar will be in English only.
