Hiroshima Commemoration
August 6 @ 12:00 pm EDT
You are invited to commemorate the Hiroshima bombing and call for the U.S. ratification of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. Join us to call for our government to join the TPNW treaty and negotiate an end to the nuclear stalemate with Russia and other nations. A petition at the gathering will ask Senator Reed to become the first Senator to pledge support for the TPNW treaty, establishing a lasting legacy for himself as a leader in safeguarding his community. Speakers at the event will include Jamestown Town Council President Nancy Beye, State Senator Tiara Mack, State Representative Jennifer Stewart, and URI professor of physics Peter Nightingale. Jamestown resident Senator Jack Reed has been invited. Music will be provided by local songwriter Ed McGuirl.
