Healthy Democracy, Healthy People

Healthy Democracy, Healthy People (HDHP) is a nonpartisan initiative of major public health and civic engagement groups. Our overall aim is strengthening our collective capacity to advance health and racial equity by ensuring access to the ballot for all eligible voters. HDHP launched the Health & Democracy Index in August 2021. The Index presents a wide range of health indicators and correlates them to voting policies. Overall, the Health and Democracy Index is designed to provide a shared health equity analysis of voting policies and serve as a tool to strengthen civic and voter participation. In this webinar, HDHP will be leading a discussion on how Maine compares within the Index, and what steps can be taken to ensure access to the ballot for more Maine residents.
