Climate Change, Child Health, and Our Role as Healthcare Providers

In this session, attendees will construct the impacts of climate change on health in the domains of heat-related illness, respiratory disease, infectious disease, and psychosocial health, report interactions between social risk factors and a changing climate, and demonstrate clinical and academic means for reducing the carbon footprint of the healthcare system.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, attendees will be able to 1) Summarize the impacts of climate change on health in the domains of heat-related illness, respiratory disease, infectious disease, and psychosocial health. 2) Identify ways in which social determinants of health/social risk factors interact with the impacts of climate. 3) Identify initiatives and clinical practice changes that can be undertaken to minimize the healthcare industry’s carbon footprint.
