Climate crisis: ‘Climateflation’ and climate gentrification August 2, 2024

[C]limate change is more than just threats of heat, drought, wildfires and extreme storms; it’s also economic with adverse health impacts, both physical and mental. “Climateflation” refers to inflationary pressures that arise from worsening climate change. Food, housing, water and energy costs rise significantly as global warming worsens.

The challenges posed by climateflation and climate gentrification underscore the urgent need for climate change mitigation and adaptation. However, we also need initiatives that address the economic and health dimensions of this global crisis, for all current and future residents.
