Celebrating Champions Working to Reduce Nuclear Risks May 23, 2019

Denise Duffield of PSR-LA Honored for Her Tireless Work

On May 21, the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability presented Denise Duffield, Associate Director of PSR-Los Angeles, with their 2019 Bill Mitchell Grassroots Activist of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding work to address nuclear issues in Los Angeles, in the state of California, and the nation at large. This award is truly well-deserved; PSR joins ANA in applauding Denise for years of courageous advocacy, including her recent success in drawing attention to the potential health risks posed by contamination from the Santa Susana Field Laboratory as a result of the Woolsey Fire.

Washington PSR Joins in Honoring Representative Adam Smith: On May 21, the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability presented an award to Representative Adam Smith, Chairman of House Armed Services Committee, in recognition of his work to reduce nuclear weapons dangers, as part of ANA’s annual DC Days reception. Carly Brook, Nuclear Weapons Abolition Organizer for Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility and Tom Carpenter, Executive Director of Hanford Challenge presented the award to Connor Stubbs, Legislative Aide to Rep. Smith, who received it on the Congressman’s behalf.

PSR is one of 30 member organizations in the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability, who are working throughout the country to empower citizens to take action and to protest an opaque and mismanaged nuclear complex. ANA promotes solutions to achieve a vision of a modern society that runs off renewable energy sources, has verifiably dismantled the world’s nuclear arsenal, and has responsibly disposed of our nuclear waste.
