After speech from Nobel laureate, Little Compton council takes stand against nuclear weapons June 24, 2021
“These are not weapons in the usual sense of the word. They’re suicide bombs,” said Ira Helfand, who is co-founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility, which shared in the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize as the American affiliate of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, and is a member of the steering committee of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, which won the prize in 2017.
