80th Anniversaries of Hiroshima and Nagasaki August 25, 2025

This August, PSR joined communities across the United States and around the world to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Through our national calendar of events, PSR tracked dozens of vigils, memorials, and educational gatherings hosted by PSR chapters and partner organizations nationwide. These events honored the lives lost, lifted up the voices of Hibakusha, and reinforced the urgent call for a future free from nuclear weapons. Internationally, movements in Japan and beyond drew thousands together in remembrance and renewed advocacy for nuclear abolition.

We are proud to share that, alongside these commemorations, PSR successfully reached our $20,000 matching campaign goal, directly supporting our work to prevent nuclear war and address its devastating health impacts. The momentum generated through these anniversaries underscores the continued relevance of PSR’s mission as we confront today’s nuclear dangers.
